Maybe (OK probably) it's just me, but I've always been fascinated by the shipping industry. If you think about it (and I do), it affects nearly every aspect of our lives, yet the complicated web of logistics, machines, jobs and energy it takes to move all our stuff from point A to B is a mystery to most of us. How did that avocado arrive in my Brooklyn bodega? How did my Macbook get here from China?
