This past weekend totally autonomous robot cars raced through a 60 mile simulated urban environment complete with stoplights and traffic.The race was organized by DARPA, the US military's Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency. So the ultimate goal of the contest was to develop technology that can help us wage war in more automated, sanitized ways. But just ignore that for the moment and pretend these cool technological achievements are for advancing peace and happiness.Here's the story.
