Its specs: It's 102 feet long, 50 feet wide, cost about $27 million to make, and is expected to reach a top speed of 15 knots. Which is... 17.3 miles per hour. I might be tempted dismiss as an expensive novelty project if it weren't for the fact that the scientists have promised to share everything they learn about how well the technology works, what glitches they encounter, and all other kinds of data collected en route.
