Dave " Mr. Bike " Glowacz, the author of Urban Bikers' Tips and Tricks , is really pleased to see how many people took up cycling in his native Chicago thanks to skyrocketing gas prices. He's worried, however, that the fast-approaching winter season will lead to the disappearance of most of his two-wheeled brethren. In an interview with the Chicago Sun-Times , he notes that most riders, especially the newbies, are likely concerned about "snow, ice and cold." The city, he says throws down a ton of salt to keep the streets clear, and layering is the (perhaps, unsurprising) solution to the temperature factor. The tips aren't going to blow your mind, but we--and Mr. Bike, presumably--thought you just might need a little encouragement to stay on the bike.
