Tips to Keep Biking in Winter

Dave "Mr. Bike" Glowacz, the author of Urban Bikers' Tips and Tricks, is really pleased to see how many people took up cycling in his native Chicago thanks to skyrocketing gas prices. He's worried, however, that the fast-approaching winter season will lead to the disappearance of most of his two-wheeled brethren. In an interview with the Chicago Sun-Times, he notes that most riders, especially the newbies, are likely concerned about "snow, ice and cold." The city, he says throws down a ton of salt to keep the streets clear, and layering is the (perhaps, unsurprising) solution to the temperature factor. The tips aren't going to blow your mind, but we--and Mr. Bike, presumably--thought you just might need a little encouragement to stay on the bike.
