Bring it on Down to Veganville: Justin Timberlake Touts Tofu

Justin TImberlake pushes veganism to the tune of Vanilla Ice.

Over the weekend something magical happened: Justin Timberlake waxed poetic about the wonders of tofu. In a skit on Saturday Night Live, the crooner—who has hosted the show five times now—took on sausage, urging passerby's to opt for a healthy lifestyle: veganism. In a series of vegan themed lyrics set to Vanilla Ice's "Ice, Ice Baby," Rihanna's "We Found Love," and of course Baauer's "Harlem Shake," he sings about everything from quinoa, kale, Spirulina, the benefits of going meatless, and asserts: "Fiber—it's a dope ingredient." He finally gets his sausage pushing competition to back down when he compares the meat he's hustling to "babe" the beloved pig in the movie of the same name.

In real life Timberlake and his fiancé Jessica Biel have been vegetarian off and on, so he (almost) practices what he preaches. If your health wasn't reason enough to try a veggie lifestyle, then perhaps Timberlake's late night TV show charm will be.

This month, we're challenging the GOOD community to host a dinner party and cook a meal that contains fewer ingredients than the number of people on the guest list. Throughout March, we'll share ideas and resources for being more conscious about our food and food systems. Join the conversation at good.is/food and on Twitter at #chewonit.\n
