Dissident Artist Ai Weiwei Parodies PSY's 'Gangnam Style' Video

Chinese dissident artist Ai Weiwei gives us a parody of PSY's 'Gangnam Style'

Chinese dissident artist Ai Weiwei is many things: internationally recognized cultural and political critic, mobilizer of art as a means for activism, renowned sculptor, and curator. One side of the artist we thought we'd never see is him as pop star. But in a new video, released today, Weiwei reminds us that he is also funny, by creating a parody of PSY's "Gangnam Style."

Weiwei has embellished the popular internet video with his own touches, including a bevy of art babes as back up dancers and showing himself in handcuffs, perhaps symbolizing the 81 days he spent in secret detention in China last year, or the fact that Chinese officials are still holding his passport making it impossible for him to attend his career retrospective at Washington D.C.'s Hirshhorn Museum which opened earlier this month. The following video is about as humorous as dissidents get.
