E-waste Laws Across America

Do you have a cellular phone? Or perhaps a television? If you're reading this, you probably have a computer. And if you're wondering how to dispose of these electronics responsibly when they die, check out this very handy map from The Electronics Takeback Coalition . It will show you which states have e-waste recycling programs and laws (Connecticut just became the 24th ) and has links to them all.

Note that the so-called "Dell bills"—e-waste legislation based on a model drawn up by Dell Computers —don't result in nearly as much recycling as other options. If your state is considering legislation, be wary of Dell's suggestions.
