It's just hard to know what to say about this tragedy. This infographic (larger version here) starts to put it in perspective. The numbers are staggering. This spill will be larger than the infamous Exxon Valdez spill in 50 days, and it's estimated it could take up to 90 days to stop the flow of oil.
Of course, the costs outlined in this graphic are only the beginning. The broader economic consequences of the spill will be in the tens—if not hundreds—of billions of dollars and the cleanup could take a generation. The Big Picture has a heartbreaking series of photographs. Has anyone out there found a good way to help?
