Ted Leo, the hard-charging punk-rocker we profiled in our most recent Portraits section, was more than miffed with the violence at the Republican National Convention. Here it is, straight from the pharmacist's mouth:"The surveillance, pre-emptive detention, arrest, and beating of journalists, protesters, and watchdogs by the St. Paul police department, the Ramsey County sheriff's department, and the FBI was so egregious that it couldn't be allowed to pass without comment."
But rather than smolder over his discontent from now to November, he's taken action. His aptly titled Rapid Response EP features two original tracks and two covers, and it's available for download now from Touch and Go Records. Money raised from the EP's sales will go to Democracy Now! and the Minneapolis chapter of Food Not Bombs.Via Pitchfork.
