The World Naked Bike Ride, the intermittent, international, clothing-optional group cycling event, came to New York this past weekend. What better way to promote cycling as a new mainstream mode of urban transportation?

Their site explains:
We face automobile traffic with our naked bodies as the best way of defending our dignity and exposing the unique dangers faced by cyclists and pedestrians as well as the negative consequences we all face due to dependence on oil, and other forms of renewable energy.
I'm not sure biking naked is "the best way" of defending their dignity, but what's the harm? They just cruise around cities in various states of undress and really amuse tourists. Got a durable bum? Here's how to get involved.
