Project: Doodle What it Means to be an Active Citizen

So what does an good citizen actually look like? Submit you doodle to win a GOOD t-shirt and year's subscription.


This month, we are challenging the GOOD community with daily tasks to be a good citizen. To support the challenge, we are hope you will partake in our latest project.

the OBJECTIVE


It is more important than ever to be involved in our community and local politics. Active citizenship is one way that we can all contribute to society and make our communities better. But in order to be active citizens, we need to know what that means. Express what you think it means to be an active citizen and inspire others to become one.

the ASSIGNMENT

Create a doodle of what active citizenship means to you.

Need some ideas? Here are some steps to become an active citizen:

  • Look up your local representatives and how to contact them. Your city or town’s website can be a great resource.

  • Attend a local council meeting. Most cities have committees for the environment, arts, parks and recreation, etc. Pick one that interests you!

  • Invite a city councilmember to speak in front of your neighbors or local community group. Your group will learn about what is happening in the community.

  • Volunteer! There are plenty of ways to volunteer in your community. Find a cause that you’re passionate about and research how you can use that passion to improve your community.
