Rosario Dawson Was Handcuffed At The Democracy Spring Protest In Washington D.C.

Dawson says: “We’re putting ourselves on the line”

Remember that Democracy Spring protest that no one is reporting on? Well, Rosario Dawson just got arrested at it!

One of the few organizations that’s been covering the event is The Young Turks, and they’ve captured video of Dawson, who has been vocal in her support of Bernie Sanders, being handcuffed after crossing a police line. Roughly 100 others were arrested with her. In another video that was filmed after her release, Dawson thanked journalists for being at the event and said, “So far we’ve gotten no communication back about what we’re trying to do here... We’re putting ourselves on the line for what a lot of people across America—and I think across the planet, really—want to be able to see happen in America, which is one person, one vote. And to really take the money out of politics so that we can have fair elections, real Progressives and people can be going up and running for office and be seen and we can have true options for our leadership.”

She went on to talk about how money in politics has “distorted our politics and our legislation,” which is one of the biggest action items for Democracy Spring. The protest continues through next Monday, at which point the number of arrests could likely reach 1,000.
