The Manifest Equality Gallery wants you to join artists across the nation in "using their voices and talents to amplify and motivate the grass roots movement to fight for full and unrestricted equal rights for all Americans." To accomplish that, Manifest Equality is holding an open call for submissions of any visual art form-they list painting, illustration, sculpture, collage, in 2D or 3D-dealing with one or more of the following themes: equality, justice, respect, unity, civil rights, and love.A panel of judges that includes Los Angeles Mayor Antonio Villaraigosa, Hammer Museum Director Ann Philbin, and the artist Shepard Fairey, among others, will select five first prize winners and 10 second prize winners. Manifest Equality will accept submissions until 11:59 a.m. Pacific Standard Time on February 19, 2010, which means you still have one week to assemble something beautiful and submit it.The winning entries will be shown at the gallery from Wednesday, March 3 to Sunday, March 7. What a fantastic way to celebrate such timeless themes.
