The New York Times’ ‘Unfiltered Voices From Donald Trump’s Crowds’

‘Build a wall — kill them all.’

Donald Trump’s presidential campaign blew the lid open on a Pandora’s box of latent hatred that had been welling up inside America for decades. It all began in a speech where he called Mexicans rapists and then it snowballed to include women, Muslims, and African-Americans. Nowhere are the effects of Trump’s hate more obvious than at his rallies where his supporters have found a venue where they can spew hate-filled vitriol inspired by the candidate.

“Kill her.”

“Trump that bitch!”

“Build a wall — kill them all.”

Over the past year, reporters from The New York Times have attended Trump rallies across the country and witnessed “so many provocations and heated confrontations at them that the cumulative effect can be numbing.” The video above documents the experiences of three reporters covering political events where supporters use “coarse, vitriolic, even violent” language” in “a pattern not seen in connection with any other recent political candidate, in any party.”
