That's right, Mississippi Senator Trent Lott has been named Minority Whip (behind Minority leader Mitch McConnell of Kentucky). Oh...memeories. Doesn't seem like just yesterday that Lott, while speaking at Strom Thurmond's centennial birthday gala, posited that the nation would have been better off electing segregationalist Thurmond over Harry Truman in 1948? Where does all the racist time go?
