Diane von Furstenberg Redesigns the Hospital Gown

As her spring line parades down the runway at New York's Fashion Week, Diane von Furstenberg's other line is parading down hospital hallways in Ohio. The New York designer used elements of her iconic wrap dresses to reinvent the uncomfortable (and sometimes exhibitionist) hospital gown.

Von Furstenberg chose a thicker fabric that ties at the side to prevent those unsightly peek-a-boos and keeps patients warmer. After a test run at the Cleveland Clinic, the gowns could roll out into wide-scale production. The only complaint so far? Men said the patterns von Furstenberg used were too girly.
