Eleven Tips for Saving Gas (and Gas Money)

Pump your tires, park in the shade, and don't top off.


Sure, it's Rideshare Week, and sure, we advocate public transit and biking over driving alone in the car. But many people still drive cars, and if those people use less gas, that's great for all of us. That in mind, here are 11 tips for saving gas—and gas money. Among them are "don't top off" (apparently the extra bit of fuel "slops around or seeps out," meaning you're just wasting money), regularly "pump up your tires," and "park in the shade" (so less gas evaporates).

Consider it a nice companion to our tips on how to double your car's fuel efficiency without spending money.
