Jeff Reichert's new film, Gerrymandering, examines the old American practice of politicians picking the voters they want by drawing up otherwise nonsensical congressional districts, and its unfortunate effects. It looks like an eye-opening piece of media.
This year, there's a measure on the California ballot that would give an independent commission, rather than the state legislature, the right to draw congressional districts. It's Proposition 20 and we should all hope it passes (unless, of course, you happen to be in the House of Representatives).
