From the White House blog:
...the President is awarding $2.3 billion in Advanced Energy Manufacturing Tax Credits-another key component of the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act ... The investment tax credits, worth up to thirty percent of each planned project, will leverage private capital for a total investment of nearly $7.7 billion in high-tech manufacturing in the United States. One hundred eighty three projects in 43 states will create tens of thousands of high quality clean energy jobs...Thirty percent of these projects are scheduled to be completed in 2010 and all of them have to be "in service" by 2014. There are descriptions of some of the projects here; you can also download a full list in spreadsheet form.We lost 85,000 jobs in December; the employment situation is still rough. But it's nice that so many credits are being awarded in Michigan, where manufacturing took a big hit. Sorry Alaska and Florida!
