Last year, in our State of the Planet issue, we highlighted six elections to watch in 2009. Among them was India, the world's largest democracy, which recently completed it's month-long election process-with some surprising results: a victory for the moderate Congress party.BBC News covered the election in a number of different contexts-including a melange of Twitter updates and correspondent posts and in terms of a huge decline for the left. However, if you were to read about the results on, say, Truthout, you'd see it described as a routing of the far right.Either way, it's a victory for the center-and the stock market. Trading was shut down twice Monday "after investors pushed stocks above their daily maximum limit."
