An Homage to Wes Anderson and the Art of Exploration

Paula Morales who has created a suite of prints in homage to Anderson and his imagery.

Wes Anderson is ever the explorer. And fortunately for us, he does it through filmmaking, embarking on journeys via train in Darjeeling Express, nautical adventures in The Life Aquatic with Steve Zissou, and again in Moonrise Kingdom; and he's even taken us down a fox hole in Fantastic Mr. Fox. This love of exploration isn't so surprising, given that his dad, Texas Anderson was an archaeologist in his early years. Through his visual adventures in film, a number of iconic images have stood out: a beaver hat; the tennis headband and Gwyneth Paltrow's fur coat from The Royal Tenenbaums; Bill Murray's orange beanie from The Life Aquatic.

None of this was lost on artist Paula Morales who has created a suite of prints in homage to Anderson and his imagery. Morales, who believes "art is a revolutionary act of freedom, a device of dialogue and a path to communication," is a student at the Academy of Art in San Francisco. Here's to exploration through images of all kinds, whether it be film, print, or otherwise.
