Downtown from Behind: Artfully Photographing New York Bikers' Backsides

Bridget Flemming documents life in the lanes, avenues, places, and streets of Lower Manhattan by photographing bike riders-from behind.

The photographer Bridget Flemming has found an inventive way to document life in the lanes, avenues, places, and streets of Lower Manhattan: by taking pictures of bike riders—from behind. The resulting photo-blog, Downtown from Behind, chronicles Flemming's handy camera work, focusing on, as Cool Hunting puts it "an eclectic cast of individuals ranging from local architects and designers to stylists, decorators, musicians, artists, hoteliers, chefs—anyone who has an impact on their specific downtown neighborhood, be it through their profession or just by living in the area."
