When we hear that the Department of Homeland Security does something like double it's annual spending on a given project, we want to know that the money is being allocated well. This time, it is. The Skyguard LASER project is one of the most ambitious, and for that matter futuristic defense ventures we've ever heard of: it's a LASER that targets and shoots incoming missiles. And we might one day see it guarding our airports--making our runways totally missile-proof!
