In Maskull Lasserre's world, you never know what bit of human or animal anatomy is hiding in your everyday objects.
Ever had that dream where you're chopping wood in the winter and the next thing you know your axe handle is a snake? No? Well, Canadian artist Maskull Lasserre has, and he's put his nightmares to good use by making some of the creepiest sculptures this side of a Tool video.
Lasserre describes his anatomical carving work as "macabre," which is certainly accurate. It's also beautiful, delicate, and meticulous. Be sure to also check out his work with paper and tree branches.
