[youtube]https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vddX4n30sXY&eurl=https://www.good.is/searchYesterday, world leaders were able to come together to recommit to the Millennium Development Goals, a communal effort to solve the problem of extreme poverty; it's going to cost $16 billion. Also, yesterday, our national leaders attempted, but failed, to reach accord regarding the U.S. economic crisis; that'll cost $700 billion. We know these are different situations, and the comparison is imperfect, but the cost difference is striking (not to mention guilt-inducing). Maybe it would help add some more urgency to the proceedings if Bono could drop by Capitol Hill for a bespectacled photo-op with a starving lender or two. Maybe he has better things to do.Video: a second look at the Millennium Development Goals; high-quality version here.
