Can you spot the difference?
In today’s highly polarized media landscape, political coverage tends to sensationalize every move the president makes. So when the scandal volume is always turned up to 10, it’s hard to get a good baseline on what really matters. Monday night, The Late Show with Stephen Colbert did a hilarious job at pointing out the stark differences in the severity of the scandals perpetrated by the Trump and Obama administrations.
The video reminds us of the good ol’ days when the media blew many of President Barack Obama’s faux pas way out of proportion. There was his unpatriotic latte salute, his disrespectful habit of putting his foot on the Oval Office desk, and the way he brazenly disregarded the sneeze guard at a Chipotle. While, on the other hand, in just over 123 days, Donald Trump has already turned over classified secrets to the Russian government, obstructed justice, and is being investigated for colluding with a foreign government to interfere in an American election.
Look, Trump may be buddy-buddy with Vladimir Putin, but at least he doesn’t put Grey Poupon on his hamburger. Remember when this was a thing?
