Waxman-Markey, America's first serious climate change bill, is working its way through the gummy gears of our legislative branch as we speak. But what would it actually do? Here's one projection (from the World Resources Institute, and vetted by the uncompromising Joe Romm).


I, for one, am blown away to see how effective the Waxman-Markey bill could be. America's carbon dioxide emissions could be back at 1990 levels in five or six years. We may not have to resort to geoengineering or painting everything white after all. Let's hope a substantive version of the bill passes.
