Approaching the 20th anniversary of Tupac Shakur’s death, one Fresno, California, burger joint plans to honor the late rapper in the only respectable way: open a Tupac-themed restaurant.
On Tuesday, September 13, Take 3 Burgers will host a pop-up restaurant inspired by the sketches and notes Shakur left behind. Dubbed the “Powamekka Café,” the pop-up shop will feature menu items like “the California Love Chicken Sandwich, Hennessey Apple Butter chicken wings, a Mac-and-Cheeseburger and Thug Passion cake pops (champagne cake with Alize-flavored frosting),” The Business Journal reports. Located at the Fulton Mall in downtown Fresno, the restaurant will be open to all ages and showcase local musicians playing Tupac’s music.
Sam Hansen, who happens to be the Fresno Grizzlies Marketing Director and worked with Kanye West early in his career, designed the concept for the café and said to The Business Journal, “Working on Powamekka Café makes me feel like I’m bringing Pac’s vision to life like I used to do for Kanye.”
The only downside to this ingenious plan? Powamekka Café will be open for one day only. So pack your bags and boogie up to Fresno as soon as possible to snag a chicken sandwich and revel in the honorary atmosphere.
