Women Attempt Comic Book Hero Poses to Make a Point About Body Images in the Media

“My butt feels like it’s going to spring off into another dimension.”

The folks at Buzzfeed tried a little experiment where real women attempted to strike ridiculous female comic book character poses. In this hilarious photo shoot, women with actual human dimensions twisted their bodies to try and emulate these strong, sexy, and utterly disproportionate characters. “I thought it was really interesting doing this as a plus-size woman,” one of the models said. “Because I was very conscious of that fact that my stomach was sticking out in places and the way these women are drawn it’s like she’s just basically like a life-size Barbie and here I was trying to compete.” Another had some great perspective. “I did my best,” she said, “I’m not going to get mad at my body for not being able to do impossible things.”
