Costco's "Thrive One Year Food Supply" is just what it sounds like: a collection of enough canned food to feed one person for 12 months.
Thrive is made by the awesomely named Shelf Reliance company, which describes itself as "your premier source for food storage and emergency preparedness planning." From a purely economic perspective, I love this concept—especially considering Thrive's impressive 25-year shelf life. And I'll admit that the packaging has a surprisingly pleasant aesthetic. But the product's wink at an imminent apocalypse sends shivers down my spine.
Does anyone know whether it's healthy to eat dehydrated, freeze-dried food for an entire year? I suppose if you found yourself in the position of needing to do so, nutrition wouldn't be your chief worry.
