Gasland: The Movie

[youtube]http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BtpSgqUZ3oA

There's a huge reservoir of natural gas trapped in a rock formation in the northeastern United States called the Marcellus Shale. It's a gold mine, and several companies have been trying to lease drilling rights from the people who own the land above. The drilling technique these companies use, called "fracking," has been known to cause testicular cancer and make your tap water flammable. In Gasland, a new HBO documentary, filmmaker Josh Fox, who himself was approached to sell drilling rights, explores how this drilling is affecting communities in the Northeast, and across America.

UPDATE: The Oil Drum links to differing opinions about the accuracy of the film.
