When it comes to learning a new language, one of the biggest factors in determining how long it might take is the similarity between the language you’re trying to learn and your native tongue. This cool infographic breaks down how many weeks it takes an English speaking person to learn each of the world’s nine other most common languages.
Using data from the Foreign Service Institute they listed the languages from easiest to learn to the hardest and based it on averaging about 25 hours per week spent learning the language. Each language is also ranked by how many people in the world speak it as their first language.
Check out the full infographic from Rayburn Tours above – and if you’re looking for something to do over the next 88 weeks, go ahead and start learning Japanese.
