Ellen DeGeneres’ Usain Bolt Tweet Accused Of Being Racist

“I am highly aware of the racism that exists in our country. It is the furthest thing from who I am.”

After posting a doctored image of herself riding on Usain Bolt’s back, Ellen DeGeneres has found herself in the middle of an angry tweetstorm accusing her of racism.

The daytime talkshow host’s post, which included the caption “This is how I'm running errands from now on,” is being critiqued by some as being insensitive and racist.

“So the first thing that pops in your head when looking at this pic is ‘oh let me jump onto his back like he's a common mule’?” one tweeter commented.

The post, which has received over 60,000 likes and over 25,000 re-tweets, wasn't universally condemned, however. Many supporters have come to the comedianne’s defense.

Ellen has just chimed in to defend herself. “I am highly aware of the racism that exists in our country,” DeGeneres tweeted on Tuesday. “It is the furthest thing from who I am.”
