A big look at our next-door neighbor galaxy.
NASA just released an enormous photo of Andromeda, our neighbor galaxy. The image, taken by The Hubble Space Telescope, captures over 100 million stars across a 61,000-light-year-long stretch. The space agency reports that this is the sharpest large composite image ever taken of the galaxy, with rendering “like photographing a beach and resolving individual grains of sand.”
