McDonald’s Under Attack For How They’re Dealing With Store Owners Accused Of Racism

A group of workers are suing the national organisation for what took place.

Ten McDonald’s workers were allegedly fired and subjected to racist harassment by their bosses, and now workers from a Virgina-based location are suing the fast-food chain. According to the laid-off individuals, the national organisation should be held accountable allowing employees to be let go unfairly (like not fitting “the profile”). McDonald’s issued a bland statement about how they support employment diversity, but didn’t address the accusation directly. Check out the video for more examples of what they’re being accused of. It sounds like the plot of William Golding's Lord of the Flies, but in the mid-2000s, it was a very real, and very controversial, reality television experiment. Footage from the UK Channel 4 documentary "Boys and Girls Alone" is captivating audiences all over again, offering a fascinating—and chaotic—look at what happens when you remove parents from the equation.

The premise was simple but high-stakes: 20 children, aged 11 and 12, were split into two groups by gender. Ten boys and ten girls were placed in separate houses and told to live without adult supervision for five days.

18 different countries photoshopped one woman to fit their definition of 'beautiful'

What does the "perfect" body look like? If you ask someone in Italy, you might get a radically different answer than if you ask someone in Colombia. That subjective nature of beauty was the driving force behind "Perceptions of Perfection," a viral project by Superdrug Online Doctors that hired graphic designers from 18 different countries to retouch the same stock photo of a woman to fit their nation's specific beauty standards.

The results were startlingly diverse, highlighting the immense and conflicting pressures women face globally. While designers in China and Italy slimmed the model down to a weight researchers estimated would be near-anorexic (a BMI of 17), South American nations like Colombia and Peru did the opposite, exaggerating her curves to create a voluptuous hourglass figure. Spain, meanwhile, produced the heaviest version, retaining a fuller, healthier look.
