What's the next big thing? We answered that question in Issue 025: The Next Big Thing, our latest print issue, with the GOOD 100, a collection of trends pulling us forward. At our launch party in Los Angeles, through our social networks, and in copies of the print magazine, we put the same question to our readers, giving them the chance to help us predict the future with their own declarations of '____ is the new ____.' Here are some of our favorite comparisons (or the best of those that we could publish…).

If you didn’t get a chance to party with us but still want to share your predictions, submit them through the GOOD 100 page. If you need a little something to get you in the psychic mood, we suggest the drink of choice at our launch party, the Mountain Margarita: one part tequila to one part Mountain Dew, topped off with a lime wedge. Man finds $24 million lottery ticket in his shirt right before the winning numbers expired

It’s a story of procrastination that could have been a $24 million tragedy. For an entire year, the New York Gaming Commission had been searching for the mystery winner of a $24.1 million New York Lotto jackpot, sold in May 2016. As the one-year deadline to claim the prize approached, they launched a media blitz.

"A lucky New Yorker has a $24 million Lotto payday just waiting — but the winner has to act fast as time is running out," Gweneth Dean, director of the commission's Division of the Lottery, said in a statement reported by The Washington Post. "We urge New York Lottery players: Check your pockets. Check your glove box. Look under the couch cushions. If you have this winning ticket, we look forward to meeting you."

What’s your least favorite job interview question? There are plenty of solid picks. Perhaps "Can you describe a challenge you’ve experienced at work?" Maybe "Why did you decide to leave your current role?" But those are both reasonable things for a hiring manager to ask, even if answering them can feel like carefully stepping around land mines. For many of us who dread this whole process, sweating out every possible scenario in advance, the ultimate anxiety-inducing cliché is a different staple: "What’s your biggest weakness?"

It may seem like there's no great answer. If you're totally honest ("I must admit that I’m really bad with technology!"), you could be shooting yourself in the foot. If you use a backdoor self-compliment ("I simply care too much about work!"), you sound disingenuous. So how are you supposed to thread this needle? Police pulled over an '80s pop icon for speeding and it turned into a hilarious photo shoot

Being pulled over by the police is always a nerve-racking experience, and it’s probably awkward for everyone when the driver is a pop star with multiple chart-topping singles. In July 2025, one such encounter went viral after sheriff’s deputies in Kiowa County, Kansas stopped a vehicle transporting British '80s hitmaker John Waite. But instead of leading to tension, the traffic stop resulted in a genuinely wholesome moment.

Waite and his band were en route to their concert at United Wireless Arena in Dodge City, Kansas when they were pulled over for speeding. Sergeant Justin Rugg just so happened to be a longtime fan: “I’m not even on cloud nine; I’m on like cloud 12,” he said after making the stop, according to the Kiowa County Sheriff Office's Facebook page.

Hunter discovered that his biological mother, Lenore Lindsay, is the proprietor of "Give Me Some Sugah," his favorite local bakery, which he has been visiting for a decade.
